Breast-Milk Pumping Tips!
Tip #1
Choosing the correct flange size!
Use a soft measuring tape to measure the flange size at the base of your nipple. (See right image)
Ensure that your nipple does not rub against the flange and that there isnt too much space, which can cause your areola to be sucked into the flange during pumping. (See image below)
Tip #2
Begin pumping before returning to work to become comfortable with the pump and to establish a small supply of milk at home for your baby to drink when you go back to work.
Tip #3
Ensure you are comfortable before pumping. Bringing your baby’s clothing or something with your baby’s scent can help with the letdown when you are pumping away from your baby.
